Caps for a Cause: Transforming Waste into Art

Our Mosaic Studio recently received a commission from Penn State Great Valley for a plastic bottle cap mural featuring the Penn State Nittany Lion. Many Villagers and Coworkers began working on the project in April by gathering and sorting recycled bottle caps, as well as by preparing the board with the painted picture of the Nittany Lion.

Short Term Coworker Annika Evers and Villager Charlene Roth are shown sorting recycled bottle caps for the project.

On April 16, in honor of Earth Day, people from Camphill Village Kimberton Hills joined professors, students, and the larger community at Penn State Great Valley. There they worked together on the project and made a beautiful work of art, using recycled bottle caps. The event was held to help raise awareness about plastic waste and the importance of recycling, as well as to show how art can be made using recycled items.
